Triad chapter calendar

Oct. Meeting, Triad Chapter of the Carolina Butterfly Society

The October program and business meeting of the Triad Chapter, Carolina
Butterfly Society, will be Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 7:00 pm.

Our program for October will be presented by one of our members, Don
Allemann, a retired insect specialist who formerly worked for Syngenta. He
will lead a discussion, illustrated with slides, about how we can encourage
butterflies to go through the four life stages in our yards and gardens. He
hopes that folks will participate in the discussion by telling of their own
experiences with butterflies and their eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalises
around their homes.

Also, member Charlie Cameron sent me an email saying, ³I may bring a
microscope and O.e. slide to the October meeting for any who might be
curious.²

The location will be in a new place for us this month. We will meet at
Captain Tomıs seafood restaurant, 6108 West Market St. in Greensboro. (See
below for directions.) We will continue to rotate our meeting places
throughout the Triad in the future. The November meeting probably will be in
Winston-Salem.

In addition to seafood, Captain Tomıs has a variety of meat dishes, pasta
plates, salads, and desserts. Several of us plan to have dinner prior to the
meeting. If you would like to join us, please plan to arrive between 6:00
and 6:30. We can continue eating after we begin the meeting, but the servers
wonıt come into the meeting room (hopefully) once we get started.

Directions to meeting place: Captain Tomıs is a half mile west of Guilford
College Rd. at 6108 West Market St. If youıre on I-40, get off at Exit 213,
Guilford College Rd., and go north about 1 mile. Turn left (west) on Market
St. and watch on your right for the restaurant. When you walk into the
restaurant, turn left inside the door and go all the way to the end of the
dining room to the first meeting room.
