The March program of the Triad Chapter, Carolina Butterfly Society, will be
"Monarch Migration Through North Carolina." We will see photos of Monarch
butterflies and discuss Monarch migration, particularly as this phenomenon
occurs in our area. We also will learn about how Monarchs are tagged and
tracked to their wintering area in Mexico. Presenters will be Dennis
Burnette and Charlie Cameron, both of whom have seen the wintering Monarchs
at El Rosario Sanctuary in Mexico.
Our programs usually are on the second Wednesday of the month. For March it
will be Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 pm. We will meet in Greensboro at the
Kathleen Clay Edwards Family (KCEF) Branch Library in Price Park. Members
from other areas, guests, and friends are welcome to attend.
Directions: The KCEF Branch Library in Price Park in Greensboro is located
at 1420 Price Park Drive off Hobbs Road and New Garden Rd about 4 miles
northeast of Exit 213 on I-40. It takes about 30 minutes or less to get
there from Burlington, High Point and Winston-Salem.
If traveling on I-40, take exit 213 and go north on Guilford College Rd.
(Signs may just say College Rd. for a short stretch.) After about 2 miles
you will see the college on the right for which the road is named. Note that
the name of the road youčre on changes to New Garden Rd. as you cross
Friendly Ave. and pass the college. Continue north past the college 0.7 mile
on New Garden Rd. to the next large intersection. Angle right (northeast) to
stay on New Garden Rd. (If you were to continue straight through the
intersection, you would be on Fleming Rd.) Continue on New Garden Rd. an
additional .09 mile to Hobbs Rd. Turn right and go 0.2 mile to the park
entrance, which is the next right. Turn here onto Price Park Rd. and then
take the next left up the hill to the library parking lot.
